Seattle Adventures: My Journey in the Emerald City

Hello, fellow adventurers! If you’ve been following my ‘50 States Before 50’ journey, you’ll be excited to hear that I’ve just ticked another state off my list: Washington! My recent trip to Seattle with my daughter was nothing short of magical, filled with laughter, discoveries, and of course, plenty of coffee!

The Iconic Space Needle

Our adventure began with a visit to the iconic Space Needle. This towering landmark offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the entire city and beyond. It’s a must-see for anyone visiting Seattle, and the perfect spot for a mother-daughter selfie in the skies! We went at sunset and the view was even more beautiful!

Chihuly Garden and Glass

Next, we wandered into the mesmerizing world of Chihuly Garden and Glass. This place feels like stepping into another dimension. Dale Chihuly’s intricate glass artworks bloom like wildflowers in this vibrant garden of glass. The indoor galleries and the stunning Glasshouse with its massive, hanging sculpture will leave you in awe. It’s a brilliant testament to creativity and color!

Pike Place Market

No trip to Seattle would be complete without a stroll through the bustling Pike Place Market. From the freshest fish flying through the air to the beautiful, blooming bouquets and handmade crafts, Pike Place is a sensory delight. We loved the energy of the crowd and the endless rows of vendors selling everything from artisan cheeses to quirky collectibles.

Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP)

For a touch of modern flair, we headed to the Museum of Pop Culture, or MoPOP. This museum is a playground for music and sci-fi enthusiasts, with exhibits ranging from horror cinema to the history of indie games. My daughter and I enjoyed the iconic artifacts from famous films and musicians.

Seattle Art Museum

The Seattle Art Museum was another cultural treat. With its diverse collection spanning ancient artifacts to contemporary art, there’s something to spark curiosity in everyone. We especially enjoyed the Native American galleries, which offer a profound glimpse into the region’s indigenous cultures. This is all day adventure!

The Original Starbucks

Being coffee lovers, we couldn’t miss the original Starbucks at Pike Place. Sipping on our lattes in the very spot where this global coffee empire started was truly special. The historic ambiance and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee made it the perfect pit stop during our bustling day.

Gum Wall

And for a bit of quirky fun, we ended our trip with a visit to the famous Gum Wall in Post Alley. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like—a wall covered in used chewing gum. It’s colorful, it’s gross, it’s utterly Instagram-worthy. We left our mark (and our gum!) and took some hilarious photos to cap off our day.

Seattle, with its eclectic mix of art, culture, and nature, was the perfect destination for our mother-daughter getaway. Each spot we visited offered something unique and exciting, making our trip truly memorable. Here’s to more adventures and states to explore—15 more to go! See you on the next trip!
