From Hot Springs to White Sands: An Unforgettable Road Trip through New Mexico

Embarking on a road trip with my daughter is always a thrilling experience. It’s our thing! The feeling of adventure, the joy of spending quality time together, and the beauty of exploring new places make it all worth the many miles I put on my car. Our road trip to Santa Fe, Taos, Truth or Consequences, and White Sands in New Mexico was an unforgettable journey. In this blog, we’ll take you through the highlights of this trip, which includes hot springs, White Sands National Park, and water rafting in Taos.

Our journey started in El Paso. As soon as we arrived to Hotel Indigo around 4PM, we decided to change clothes and head straight to White Sands National Park, located about an hour and a half away. This stunning park is home to the largest gypsum dune field in the world, and the landscape is simply breathtaking. Well, it’s actually not sand, it’s salt. We spent the day hiking, sledding down the sand dunes, and admiring the views. We were there at the perfect time because the sunset views are life changing!

The next day we, we headed towards Taos. The drive to Taos is breathtaking, with stunning views of the mountains and the Rio Grande Gorge. In Taos, we stayed at Hilton Hotel Don Fernando de Taos, Tapestry Collection and we went white water rafting on the Rio Grande. This thrilling adventure included a perfect guide Luke who made our excursion memorable. We spent the afternoon navigating the rapids with New Mexico River Adventures and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

From Taos, we drove to Truth or Consequences, a quirky town known for its hot springs. Yes, that is really the name of the town. We visited the Riverbend Hot Springs, which offers stunning views of the Rio Grande and a variety of private and public hot springs. We spent the evening soaking in the warm waters and watching the stars. It was MAGICAL!

Our road trip to Santa Fe, Taos, Truth or Consequences, and White Sands National Park in New Mexico was an unforgettable experience. From soaking in hot springs to exploring ancient ruins to rafting down the river, this trip had something for everyone. We highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves adventure, nature, and spending time with the ones you love most.
