My Solo Adventure to Utah

Hello fellow wanderers! I’m thrilled to share my latest solo adventure with you – a delightful trip to Utah, as part of my “50 States Before 50” journey. Utah, with its majestic landscapes and vibrant city life, offered an experience I’ll cherish forever.

My first stop was Little Cottonwood Canyon. Imagine a snowy forest straight out of a fairy tale, where the trees wear white coats, and the air is crisp and clean. It was like stepping into a winter wonderland, a serene escape that made me feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Next up was Ensign Peak. The hike up was invigorating, and the reward at the summit was a breathtaking panoramic view of Salt Lake City. It was a moment of true solitude, where I could reflect and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake was another highlight. The blend of natural beauty and tranquility was astounding. I took my time here, soaking in the serene atmosphere, and found it to be incredibly rejuvenating.

Temple Square was a journey into the heart of Salt Lake City’s rich history and culture. Walking through this area, I felt a deep sense of connection to the past and the stories that have shaped this city.

No trip is complete without exploring the local cuisine. I visited some charming coffee shops, each with its unique vibe and delicious brews. A meal at the Red Iguana restaurant offered a taste explosion, and Ruby’s Kitchen served up hearty, comforting dishes that felt like a hug in a bowl. Settebello Pizza was a culinary delight. Their pizzas, with the perfect crust and fresh toppings, were simply heavenly. It’s a must-visit for any food lover.

My home during this trip was the Little America Hotel. Waking up to the stunning views of the city and mountains each morning was a treat. It was the perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making my stay in Salt Lake City even more special.

One of the most memorable parts of my trip was meeting a fellow solo traveler who serves in our Army. What a small world – she’s also from Texas! It was amazing to connect with someone who shares the spirit of adventure and a love for our country.

My quick trip to Salt Lake City gets a 10/10 from me. It was a blend of serene nature, historical exploration, delicious food, and new friendships. This solo journey was more than just a tick on my travel list; it was a heartwarming experience that reminded me of the joy of discovering new places and the unexpected connections you make along the way. I’ve been asked this question a few times, “Are there black people in Utah?” The answer is yes. Well, at least I saw a few in Salt Lake City. I don’t often travel to any places where I would feel unwelcome.
