It’s only crazy until it happens

A few weeks ago, I joined my church in our annual Crazy Faith offering. This year was a little different. I decided bring my daughter along. The day before we left, we had an at home bible study to discuss giving. I was able to help my child understand how and why God calls us to give using these scriptures:

Proverbs 11:25 – A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Acts 20:35 – In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

We had a great chat about the different ways we can give outside of just monetary contributions. We also talked about the difference between a tithe and an offering.

That next day, we hit the road for our trip to Tulsa to visit our peeps at Transformation Church. People thought I was crazy last year for driving 7 hours just to give an offering but it doesn’t seem that crazy to me. What seems a little crazy is meeting people who waited in line for almost 24 hours for Black Friday, iPhones, or Jordan’s!

Last year, I gave what I heard God tell me to give and not even a week later, one of the items on my card showed up at my house unexpectedly. CRAZY! This year was more about showing my child the importance of putting our faith in God and creating a legacy of giving. I gave her $100 and told her to really pray on what God wants her to give. I didn’t ask any questions.

When we arrived we stood in line amongst other out-of-towners who were their to submit their offerings. We were able to connect, make friends and have prayer with the staff. I’ve never seen my daughter so excited to give! It was an heart-warming experience that I will forever be grateful for! I can’t wait to see what God has in-store for us in 2022. Oh and our church gave away 7 million dollars last week to other church, organizations and individuals in need. *insert ugly cry right here* It feels good to know when you sow it’s going into good soil.
