People often ask if I regret leaving the radio industry. NO WAY! But…I do regret not taking the time to learn about the tools needed for entrepreneurship. Whew! If I knew then what I know now, I may have taken a few years (while still working on the air) to master how to build an email database with lead magnets, conversions, marketing and so much more. I have taken a gazillion courses and certifications since I hung up my headphones 5 years ago. But I will say this…most of what I learned to help my business grow was through good ole’ trial and error.

Today, I just want to share my top 5 business tools that have kept us thriving!

CANVA – Canva is the best! I’m sure you’ve heard of Canva and how cool it is that you can EASILY create posters, flyers, invitations and more. But did you know that you can also print and build websites through Canva now? Yes!!! Canva has introduced a new feature when you can build your website using templates and use a simple link to connect to your hosting site. Canva is one of my favorite tools that I use daily. I use Canva to create all of graphics on my I’m Me Foundation instagram and do a lot of design work for clients who need flyers quickly.

PODBEAN – I know there are many podcasting platforms out there but I am truly happy with the folks at Podbean. I’ve been hosting my podcast there for over 4 years. What do I love most about it? Super easy publishing – great analytics (everything you need to gain awesome sponsorships) – no limitations – PERFECT PRICE! I pay $14 a month and have access to monetization tools to help make money!

TYPEFORM – I am a super organized person and I love beautiful esthetics! Typeform is the only platform that I have seen that allows you to create gorgeous forms align with your brand. It’s more than just colors…it’s the entire look and feel of your brand. I use forms almost every week – whether its pre-event surveys for my teen events or getting feedback after my webinars and programs, surveys are essential to keeping your audience/clients engaged. Yeah, you could use a simple google form but if you want to create a more connected experience…Typeform is it!

THINKIFIC – I just hosted my very first challenge on Thinkific last week? (Did you miss it? ˈFLƏR-ISH: A 7-Day Challenge to Grow, Thrive & Prosper) This site is amazing! If you have a course you are anxiously ready to launch, this platform will release your stress! Easy to set up, just drop in your content and publish! I love that they have lots of simple tutorials to help you if you need assistance. You are able to set up multiple courses and drip content through the PRO account. As you can see below, everything is pretty much spelled out for you. This allows you to put your focus on the most important part…great content!

PREPLY – You may be wondering how this site helps my business. Last year, I did a few programs in Mexico and needless-to-say, my Spanish is MUY MALO!!! Well, it was until I started my tutoring with Preply. For the past 6 months, my Spanish has improved tremendously. I had not taking a Spanish class since Freshman year of college (Back in the 1900’s) I definitely needed to freshen up so I am able to effectively host my programs and understand the girls we serve. My professor is Naylin. She is incredible and PATIENT! 🙂 I love that she have guides to follow for each session and practice materials. ALL OF THIS FOR ROUGHLY 10 BUCKS A SESSION! The Mandarin tutor I hired for my daughter through another platform was $45 an hour with no worksheets or anything. Tutors on Preply run anywhere between $10 – $40. Oh, and when you refer someone and they sign up for a session…you get a $30 credit!! You should do it with a friend or family member to save! I take a class every week but because I have referred many of my friends, I’ve racked up a lot of FREE sessions! Preply is really a great deal!!! They offer many languages too.
